How to Choose the Right Wall Mirror Size for a Living Room
The right living-room mirror should reflect light and proportion without crowding furniture or walkways. Measure the wall, the furniture below it and the viewing distance before choosing a decorative mirror.
Measure the wall and furniture first
For a console or sofa wall, choose a mirror that is usually narrower than the furniture below it. Leave breathing room at both sides and keep the centre of the mirror near eye level. Record the wall width, ceiling height and the furniture height before shopping.
Choose shape for the room
Oval and round mirrors soften rooms with many straight lines. Rectangular mirrors can visually extend a narrow wall. A peacock or floral ceramic frame works best as a focal piece where it can be seen clearly rather than hidden behind a door.
Plan installation and safety
Check the product dimensions and weight, locate the wall type, and use hardware rated above the mirror weight. Keep mirrors away from door swings and secure the rear fitting before drilling.
