How to Safely Hang a Heavy Decorative Wall Mirror
A beautiful mirror is only finished when it is securely installed. Use this checklist before drilling, and ask a qualified installer for heavy or unusually shaped pieces.
Before drilling
Confirm the mirror’s delivered weight and rear fittings. Scan for electrical wiring and plumbing, identify whether the wall is masonry, drywall or another material, and choose anchors rated for that surface.
Use two-person handling
Large ceramic-framed mirrors should be lifted by two adults. Mark the centre line and fixing height with a level, protect the mirror edge, and never carry a mirror by a decorative frame element.
After installation
Test gently for movement, keep the fixing points accessible for inspection and recheck after the first week. Keep the mirror away from door impact and damp areas unless its materials are rated for them.
